Holocaust and Genocide Awareness

Westport students learn about the Holocaust primarily in Grades 8, 9, and 10 through both United States and World History contexts. Students engage with archival materials, including survivor testimonies. Grade 8 students participate in an annual program that brings a survivor to the school to speak. Genocide awareness and human rights education is embedded throughout the curriculum to support a broad range of civic and historical topics.

Westport students explore documents and artifacts to learn about Sigrid Schultz, a Westporter and reporter who exposed Nazi secrets.
